Leak Detection Services

Smoke Testing

Smoke testing forces non-toxic, artificially created smoke through waste and drain pipes under slight pressure to locate the source of a reported bad odour, for example, originating from sewer and/or other drainage pipes. The smoke should be visible on the outside of the pipe/area in question pinpointing the leak.

Tracer Gas Testing

Tracer gases (no smell) are forced in to pipes and used to pinpoint water and/or gas leaks, in particular. A handheld device is moved over the area of the suspected leak and will detect minute particles of the tracer gas in the air, pinpointing the leak.

Thermal Imaging

Thermal Imaging is carried out using a handheld camera that uses the heat given off by an object to produce an image. It measures heat in different variations, represented in different colours. 95% of the services throughout our home are tucked away under floors, behind walls and in ceilings. We use this to uncover hidden leaks, pinpoint an exact location for repairs and survey water damage that is not easily visible. The camera records different temperatures in different areas indicating whether it may be wet or dry. It can be used to inspect pipes carrying mains water into and around a property, as well as waste drains carrying water away from the property.

Locate Underground Services and Utilities

Everclear Pipe & Cable have a range of locating equipment to suit most site conditions and applications. Our hand-held EMFD locator (Electro-Magnetic Frequency Detection) has the ability to pinpoint, gas, water, electricity and communications.

For PVC water and gas pipes, you will need to let go of the trusty EM locator and utilize the Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR). Our GPR equipment is suitable for tracing services in both soil and concrete slabs. 

Our experienced technicians will mark the location of services on site and may provide images and reports of our findings in need.

GPR can also feedback information not only about what is below the surface, but what precise condition it is in. So for concrete, it can also detect and locate cracks, faults, joints, voids and conduits, which can be invaluable information for a number of construction, surveying and engineering applications.
