About Us

Ground Technologies constantly strives to provide qualitative Geotechnical Testing Services throughout its range of small to large projects. Ground Technologies was established in August 1999 with the aim to provide Geotechnical Testing Services to the construction industry. Today, Ground Technologies has evolved into one of the leading organizations in providing Geotechnical and Environmental Testing Services.

Our complete range of services now covers all types of projects, from small to large. Ground Technologies has L2 registration with RMS to provided services on projects greater than $10 million. Ground Technologies has been successfully providing high quality geotechnical testing services for the past 15 years of its operation. Our complete range of services covers all sizes of projects including major Highway and Railway upgrades to council roads and large commercial and industrial developments to small residential sites. Previous projects have also consisted of diverse infrastructures such as, pipe trench backfill, car parks, residential and industrial subdivisions, airports, seaports as well as major road & rail ways and large quarry backfill sites. Ground Technologies’ core staffing consists of in-excess of 40 full time experienced staff, plus approximately 10 casuals totally committed to construction materials testing.

All our staff members have successfully obtained all the necessary qualifications and licenses in order to undertake various inspections and testing. Moreover, they have undergone extensive training in the relevant RMS & Australian Test Procedures and internal procedures to complete similar projects successfully. We have in our base laboratory 8 Authorised Signatories. In addition, our highly experienced senior staff (with 10 of the technicians having in-excess of 8 years and up to 25 years experience) have all completed a Diploma in Laboratory Technology (Construction Materials Testing) and/or a Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques (Construction Materials Testing). Furthermore, Ground Technologies can also provide the services of in-house Geotechnical & Environmental Engineers who can undertake complete geotechnical inspections, investigations and environmental validation monitoring services utilising our own Drill rigs.

NATA Accreditation

Under our National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA) accreditation, Ground Technologies is able to ensure accurate and precise test results at all times. Additionally, Ground Technologies is accredited to the quality system ISO/IEC 17025 by NATA. All our staff members have successfully obtained all the necessary qualifications and licenses in order to undertake various inspections and testing. Moreover, they have undergone extensive training in the relevant RMS & Australian Test Procedures and internal procedures to complete similar projects successfully. We have in our base laboratory 8 Authorised Signatories.

Our experience in a full range of earthworks operations (please see our major projects) from backyard plumbing trench backfill to large scale mine development allows us to provide advice on fill material, earth working equipment, placement methods and the overall procedures required to achieve the results as directed by the site earthworks/development specification. Services offered include Level 1 to Level 2 Testing as per AS3798 Engineering Inspections and Advice. Related field testing as per project specifications include:

Laboratory Services

The Ground Technologies NATA accredited laboratory is one of the largest in Sydney, and is fully committed to the application of industry best practices. Ground Technologies is focused on utilising the most advanced technical equipment available such as the Automatic Compaction Rammers, Automatic CBR machines and Nuclear Densometer Gauges. Ground Technologies is structured and equipped to provide efficient turnaround. We have a new Benkelman Beam Truck complete with the latest testing equipment especially equipped for RMS projects.

Soils Testing – Compaction Control, Plasticity Index, Shrink Swell Classifications, California Bearing Ratio (CBR) and other material properties.

Aggregate Testing – Sieve analysis, Particle Shape , Maximum Dry Compressive Strength, Wet/Dry strength variation, Unconfined compressive Strength, and Point Load

Material Conformance Testing – Quarry Sampling, RMS 3071, RMS 3051, Council Specifications and others.

Concrete Testing – Sampling Fresh Concrete and moulding cylinders, Slump tests, Air content and Compressive strength.

Drill Rig Hire

Ground Technologies owns and operates a 4WD Toyota Landcruiser Ute mounted drill rig with 100mm diameter solid flight spiral augers. With capacity to drill to a depth of up to 17m, this rig is available to hire. With the ability to push tube to a depth of 1.5m, the rig is suitable for geotechnical and environmental purposes

Benklemen Beam Testing

Ground Technologies owns and operates a fully equipped NATA accredited Benkleman Beam Truck. The Isuzu Truck is automatic and is set up specifically for the Benkleman Beam deflection Testing. The Truck is available for Hire with or without a Technician covering Australian and RMS Standards.
