JP Xpress

John Petersen started the business midyear 1995, and established the name John Petersen Xpress in January 1996. The business started out as a Cairns courier business as there was a need for a one-hour express courier run in the Cairns area. This part of the business took off in leaps and bounds so fast the Jaimelle Whittaker (John Petersen’s partner) left her full time employment to work with John in mid 1996.

Another opportunity presented itself in 1998 and John started a run once a day to Port Douglas. This quickly became two runs a day in vans. Through this run into Port Douglas we noticed an opening for the niche marketing of a refrigerated truck to Port Douglas to service all the restaurants and resorts. We were the first local transport business to offer this service, from there we then moved into the Innisfail and Tableland areas with refrigerated trucks.

As the business grew we altered the name to J P Xpress, sold the Cairns courier part of the business and moved completely into refrigerated transport for the local area. During our expansion we starting following the HACCP principals and acquired SafeFood accreditation. We are audited each year to keep these accreditations.
