We complete residential and commercial projects of all sizes around Australia and only meet the highest possible safety and quality standards. Whether you have a heritage listed property that requires extra care and precision or a brand new construct, we can be an asset to your build. See our past work and experience for more information.

We are an Australian owned and privately operated specialist piling company servicing the Victorian construction industry. Based in Melbourne, our team of experts design, construct and deliver piling and rock drilling solutions for metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria. We are known to undertake, and provide practical advice on, challenging projects, and deliver tailored solutions to potential construction issues before they arise – making us a preferred contractor.

As Victorian construction market leaders, we are deeply committed to innovation, research and development. Safety, quality and efficiency are our top priorities, and through our work, our highly experienced team always ensure the highest possible standards are met. And we do it on budget, on time, every time.

Our work

We use only the best services and piling techniques available to the current market and can deliver any project requirements in any conditions. Our core capabilities include but aren’t limited to Bored Piling, Injected Piles, Retaining Piles, Driven Piling, Ground Improvement, Pile Testing, CFA Piling, Rock Drilling and Secant. We use a range of Piling Rigs (from 5- to 75-ton Mast Rigs), Pendulum Rigs and Rock Rigs to get the job done no matter how big or small.

Our people

With over 35 years of experience in construction and development, our team members have been motivated and driven by a commitment to providing the safest and highest quality piling solutions in Victoria since we opened our doors.

We are construction-minded and natural relationship builders. We strive to nurture ongoing relationships between internal and external project members for the benefit of each project; we believe this is a key part of our success and ensures the best possible outcomes for our clients.

Marrone Piling can provide a wide variety of Piling techniques to suit the Ground Constuctions of any project.

The core products and services we can provide include:

Foundation Piling – for both small and large diameter CFA

Ground Retention Systems – for both contiguos and secant pile walls with temporary ground anchors

Retaining Walls – Piled walls with Sleeper installations

We can provide a range of auger sizes and equipment, with the capability of installing straight staft CFA piling ranging from 300mm to 1050mm in diameter.

Bored Piling

‘Bored piling’ is a specialised construction method that involves ‘boring’ or drilling a circular hole or holes into the ground for the purpose of installing steel reinforcement and filling the hole with concrete to form a ‘pile’. Boring is conducted to a range of depths (depending on what is required) using either a boring unit, hydraulic drilling machine, or a crawler crane-mounted rotary.

Retaining Walls – Piled walls with Sleeper installations

Marrone Piling can provide a range of auger sizes and equipment, with the capability of installing straight shaft Bored Piers ranging from 300mm to 2400mm diameter.

Dependent on ground conditions, our machinery has the capacity to construct piles up to 30m plus deep.

Continuous Flight Auger (CFA)

‘Continuous Flight Auger’ or ‘augering’ (also known as ‘Auger Cast Piling’) is a specialist construction method that involves the creation of a concrete deep foundation. Concrete, or other reinforcement, is inserted once the auger is removed.

Ground Retention systems – including contiguous and secant pile walls with temporary ground anchors

Marrone Piling can provide a range of auger sizes and equipment, with the capability of installing straight shaft CFA piles ranging from 300mm to 1050mm diameter.

Dependent on ground conditions, our machinery has the capacity to construct piles up to 22m deep.

Rock Driling & Coring

Marrone Piling can provide a range of Core Barrel sizes and equipment needed to drill through rock such as basalt, bluestone, ironstone, etc.

They are also utilised for penetration through artificial obstacles like masonry and reinforced concrete. An additional advantage of the core barrel is that it will not deflect laterally when encountering deflecting layers of rock or irregular surfaces.

Secant Piling

Secant pile walls are formed by constructing reinforced concrete piles that interlock, and are often used as a cost-effective water retention system. Secant piles are reinforced with steel rebar. Typically, primary (female) piles are cast in using Continuous Flight Auger leaving space in between them which is followed by secondary (male) piles being cut into the primary piles to form a continuous wall, generally with a typical interlock of around 150 mm.

Marrone Piling can provide a range of Core Barrels sizes and equipment, drilling through rock such as basalt, bluestone, ironstone etc.

They are also utilised for penetration through artificial obstacles like masonry and reinforced concrete. An additional advantage of the core barrel is that it will not deflect laterally when encountering deflecting layers of rock or irregular surfaces.

Ground Improvement

Ground improvement involves the modification of soil properties or constructing inclusions within the soil to achieve a required performance.

Common Uses: Increase bearing capacity. Decrease settlement. Decrease permeability. Reduce liquefaction potential. Increase slope stability. Collapse or fill voids. Accelerate surcharging.

Ground Anchors

Ground anchors are used in basement retention systems to temporarily or permanently restrain piling systems.

The ground anchors utilise steel strands tensioned to a design working load to restrain the basement walls whilst the basement is being excavated. The ground anchors are then de-stressed after the basement floors have been installed and self-restrain the external piled walls.

Design & Construct Service

Design and Construct services incorporate a range of pile wall systems, including contiguous piles, soldier piles and secant pile walls. Marrone Piling provide full documentation of the construction sequence for temporary and permanent conditions.

Our service and experience enables Marrone Piling to design and certify cost-effective alternative retention system solutions for our clients. This service can provide a cost saving to the project and/or a reduction to program costs.

All designs are quality assured, with full computations and certificates.

Pile Testing

Marrone Piling can provide independent pile integrity testing services to meet project requirements. The independent unbiased service is to ensure safety and quality assurance to Australia’s public and private sectors.

Sonic Echo (PIT) Sonic Echo Impulse Response (SE/IR) investigations are performed to evaluate integrity and determine the length of deep foundations. Sonic Echo is also commonly known as Pulse Echo, Transient Response or Low Strain Dynamic Pile Testing and is covered by ASTM D5882-00 and AS 2159-2009.

Cross Hole Sonic Logging (CSL) The CSL method is considered to be more accurate than sonic echo testing in the determination of structural soundness of concrete within the drilled shaft inside of the rebar cage. Also known as Crosshole Acoustical Testing, CSL normally requires steel (preferred) or PVC access tubes installed in the drilled shaft and tied to the rebar cage.

Pile Dynamic Analysis (PDA) Dynamic load testing (PDA) is a method to assess a pile’s bearing capacity by applying a dynamic load to the pile head (a falling mass) while recording acceleration and strain on the pile head. Dynamic load testing is a high strain dynamic test which can be applied after pile installation for concrete piles.

Machinery & Equipment

Our current fleet of rigs and specialist equipment ranges from mini-pile rigs for confined space work to track-mounted hydraulic drilling rigs. We own all of our machinery and equipment and is operated by one of our professional team members.
