About

Miller Pipe & Civil (MPC) has been established since 2010 and has primarily focused on civil construction, road construction and bulk earthworks projects operating within accredited safety, quality and environmentally management systems.

Since 2010 MPC has continuously worked in the urban water/ wastewater, irrigation, gas, local government, renewable energy, waste and urban development markets.

Our team comprises qualified and experienced persons that have been responsible for large complex multi-disciplinary engineering projects (to $50m), and, those responsible for managing the reliability/ operation/ productivity of a significant fleet of earthmoving plant and associated labour workforce.

MPC ensures it understands not only the client's design, but also its design intent, which enables us to work with our clients to optimize their designs and/ or our construction methods to deliver improved outcomes.

The types of works include: raw water storages, stormwater detention basins, erosion protection works, stormwater drainage, kerb, footpath and driveway concrete works, sealed/ asphalt roads, formed/ gravel tracks, sports fields, water supply pipelines, gas transmission pipelines, HV and LV electrical conduits, pump stations, irrigation control structure replacements, irrigation channel decommissioning, dam embankment filter drainage, dam select clay compacted backfill, rural drainage, rural fencing and horizontal directional drilling.

MPC and its key people have delivered projects throughout Tasmania, Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia and Western Australia.

MPC owns a significant fleet of plant comprising 3Tn to 30Tn excavators, trucks, graders, backhoes, water cart, skid steer loaders, float and light vehicles. MPC is also a significant employer of approx. 30+ frontline labour and actively supports local employment.

Urban water/ wastewater

MPC has constructed water supply and wastewater pipelines and associated precast concrete and fibreglass pump stations, including all electrical installations and mechanical fit out. MPC has performed works for Victorian and NSW authorities responsible for water and wastewater management.

Irrigation/ bulk water storage

MPC has upgraded aging irrigation control assets such as flow regulators, channel offtakes and farm metered outlets, decommissioned irrigation/ drainage channels, placed and compacted select clay backfill associated with new irrigation supply channels and major structures, enlarged existing and constructed new raw water storages, placed rock spalls for erosion protection works, undertaken detailed footing excavations and foundation improvements, installed large diameter RCP and HDPE irrigation supply pipelines and completed on-farm laser grading and channel/ drainage construction.

The key challenges that MPC often overcomes in this market relates to rapid (plant/ labour) resourcing of projects, sourcing of complying fill and completing works in significantly time-constrained requirements.

Gas

MPC has completed numerous remote location projects to install transmission pipelines, flow metering and other aboveground pipework, working in various terrain such as road reserves and rural properties amongst locally significant vegetation/ culturally significant areas in sand, clay and rock substrate at times with groundwater.

Due to the remote locations, quality assurance/ control in procurement was critical, whilst, MPC's thorough resource and materials supply coordination influenced the success of the works ensuring completion in accordance with client approved plans.

Local government

MPC regularly constructs works for local government such as urban stormwater drainage pipelines, urban stormwater detention basins, urban stormwater drainage pump stations, formed/ gravel and asphalt road construction, driveway/ footpath and kerb concrete works, carparks, streetscape improvements, large diameter rural culvert installations as well as bike/ walking trail construction.

Renewable energy

MPC completed over 150kms of trenching, conduit bedding/ backfill across and assisted with cable handling at the 175MW Finley and 333MW Darlington Point solar farms as part of the HV and LV conduit/ cabling works. Additional works completed by MPW on these sites included the construction of internal formed/ gravel roads and laydown areas as well as site drainage works.

Waste

MPC has experience in landfill operations including waste handling and bulk earthworks for landfill capping and cell construction with staff having experience is the lining works.

Urban development

MPC has a successful track record constructing residential, rural residential, commercial and industrial subdivisions for land developers by carrying out site cut to fill, stormwater drainage installation, road construction and utility services installation.
