Neil Mansell Group - History

Neil Mansell has been a transport operator for over forty years, building a large family owned group of businesses principally split between Neil Mansell Transport, Mansell Bulk Haulage and Transport Welding Engineering each with trading divisions.

Neil commenced business at a very young age as a general freight carrier with one truck. Today the Group has in excess of 1350 registered plant and employs approximately 700 staff in a diversified range of specialist operations. With headquarters in Toowoomba, the Neil Mansell Group has offices and depots in Adelaide, Maroochydore, Mackay, Moranbah, Bowen, Gympie, Tin Can Bay, Bundaberg, Chinchilla, Roma, Moomba and Mt Isa.

Whilst Neil is the Managing Director of each company within the Group, his son Robert as Assistant Managing Director, successfully runs Mansell Bulk Haulage and the other coastal businesses from his base at the Sunshine Coast.

The Neil Mansell Group has a diversified range of specialised operations including engineering, steel fabrication, heavy transport, concrete, panel and paint, metal supplies, welding, crane hire, mining and quarrying and landscaping.

Neil Mansell Transport has become Australia’s leading specialists in the transportation of drilling, work-over rigs and associated equipment within the oil, gas and pipeline industry. Neil Mansell Transport has large scale operations and depots in Adelaide, Moomba, Roma and Chinchilla with its head office located in Toowoomba. It is an industry leader in Pipeline Haulage with decades of experience in major pipeline projects in Australia having been the prime transport contractor on most major pipeline constructions across the country.

Neil Mansell Transport has very high standards and expectations to the health and safety of all of its personnel and works to achieve maximum compliance with safe work practices within the energy industry. Neil Mansell Transport operates two aircraft used primarily to ferry men and equipment to and from the gas and oilfields in the Cooper and Surat Basin and various pipeline projects around Australia.

Mansell Bulk Haulage operates a fleet of bulk pneumatic tankers and tippers servicing the Neil Mansell Group’s raw material extractive sites and delivers to both internal and external customers. Mansell Bulk Haulage is located in Maroochydore on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, and is also the head office for its statewide operations including Mansell Premix, Parklands Blue Metal, Neil Mansell Landscape Supplies and Mansell Mining and Shotcrete.

The main focus for Neil Mansell Concrete is to operate the Group’s concrete batching businesses which are located in Mackay, Moranbah, Bowen, Tin Can Bay, Gympie, Bundaberg and Toowoomba. Neil Mansell Concrete operates a number of mobile concrete plants that are deployed on projects throughout the State that require supply and delivery of ready mixed concrete to remote sites. Neil Mansell Concrete has a current EPA licence that allows the company to operate mobile concrete plants without development approval on any site in Queensland for the period of the project.

Neil Mansell Landscape Supplies was established in 1991 for the supply and delivery of bulk landscape materials to a large client base on the Sunshine Coast. Today, from their site in Fishermans Road, Maroochydore, Neil Mansell Landscape Supplies is looking after the needs of professional landscapers and weekend gardeners with a full range of products perfect for every application.

Parklands Blue Metal has two quarry sites operating to supply a full range of quarried blue metal products to the Mansell Premix network of concrete batching plants. The Habana Quarry is just west of Mackay and the Parklands Quarry is located 4kms north of Nambour and supplies and delivers to the local market.

Other operations within the Neil Mansell Group include:

Transport Welding Engineering , the transport body building specialists, manufacturing a diverse range of custom built products from their steel fabrication business based in Toowoomba since 1987. Offering personalised service that has built a reputation throughout Queensland and Australia a second to none, the excellent manufacturing capabilities can custom make drop side tipping bodies, grain bins, dog trailers and curtain siders as well as carry out chassis modifications, engineering repairs and aluminium and sheet metal fabrication.

Bromac Panel and Paint specialises in heavy truck smash repairs from its base in Greenwattle Street Toowoomba. The industry qualified tradesmen include panel beaters, spray painters, mechanics, welder/boiler makers and motor body trimmers who can offer prompt reliable repairs to light and heavy trucks, trailers, tippers and stock crates as well as 4x4’s and cars.

Mansell Heavy Towing have tow trucks based in Toowoomba and Brisbane, and are able to travel anywhere offering a 24/7 recovery service for heavy vehicles. Although specialising in heavy towing and recovery, Mansell Heavy Towing also offers vehicle recovery and storage, accident recovery and co ordination, and bus and coach towing.

Metals ‘R’ Us has a large range of metal products of varying sizes for large scale projects to small jobs. It’s well known as the first place to go for steel and aluminium and the staff can provide cutting, bending, folding or welding to any material to customers’ requirements. The Metals ‘R’ Us showroom stocks products from all of the major manufacturers and suppliers. Tools, welding equipment, generators and compressors, heavy duty drills and industrial fans are just a small example of what’s available at their site at 483 Greenwattle Street Toowoomba.

As Managing Director of the Neil Mansell Group, Neil takes an active role in the operational and administrative areas of the business and be credited with the incredible growth experienced since its humble beginning in 1958. Neil has Divisional Managers running each key business operation, reporting directly to him, and with their expertise and the cumulative resources of the Neil Mansell Group of Companies, no project is out of reach.

Home - Mansell Premix

Neil Mansell Concrete joined the Neil Mansell Group in 2005 with the purchase of an independent premix concrete company with two fixed concrete plants in Mackay and Moranbah, one mobile concrete plant, a sand extraction facility and cement importing warehouse.

Since then, Neil Mansell Concrete has purchased a cconcrete overviewoncrete batching plant in Bowen, Tin Can Bay, Gympie, Toowoomba and Bundaberg and is looking to establish a plant in the Maroochydore area in the near future.

The main focus for Neil Mansell Concrete is to operate the Group’s concrete batching businesses, as well as the ancillary support activities such as the Callide fly ash contract and the importation of cement powder from China for utilisation by the Group’s businesses.

At Neil Mansell Concrete we are very committed to protecting the environment, and have on staff, a full time Environmental, Health and Safety officer responsible for our Environmental Health and Safely management system. We also employ a technical manager responsible for our Quality Assurance Management System.

Neil PremixMansell Concrete has performed some very large concrete pours, and some of our Mobile Plant Projects include supplying 16,000m3 for the Wivenhoe Dam upgrade, 25,000m3 for the Burdekin to Moranbah Pipeline and over 38,000m3 for the Darling Downs Power Station.

Some of the larger projects supplied from our fixed plants in the last twelve months include the Mackay Airport upgrade, the Ergon Energy substation and the Mackay Water Recycling project from the Mackay Concrete Batch Plant, the Poitrel Mine upgrade and the Moranbah water treatment and recycling plant from the Moranbah plant and the Plantation, Rainbow Beach from the Tin Can Bay Plant.

We have a current EPA licence that allows us to operate mobile concrete plants without development approval on any site in Queensland for the period of the project.
