Alex and Barbara Nissen formed their partnership of Nissen Welding Industries in 1971, in rented premises at the ‘Old Soap Factory’ Lobb Street Churchill.
By 1992 the business had outgrown the premises at Lobb Street and Land was purchased with new buildings constructed at 474 Warwick Road, Yamanto, giving greater exposure and far more modern working conditions, enabling larger and more precise work to be undertaken. More equipment was also purchased allowing a greater variety of work
In 1995 they again expanded to form the business Aluminium Warehouse Ipswich, selling aluminium to trade and retail.
Nissen Welding’s early customers included farmers requiring repairs to their farm machinery and fabrication work such as cattle truck bodies and cattle crushes, sheds and using a mobile welder they were able to cover a great area seeking work.
Although farmer’s needs were still part of their service, over the last half a century the business has changed with the customer’s needs. Initially a move was made into specializing in fabrication and repair of aluminium made products. Anything from repair holes in boats to fixing cracks in motor casings of cars and motorcycles to heavy fabrication was carried out.
Several years ago Alex and Barbara’s son Daniel, with his wife Alana took over managing the business, and with their team, have been serving the people and businesses of Ipswich and surrounding districts and look forward to doing so for many years to come.
Today, as a QBCC and ISO accredited business, Nissen Industries (they removed Welding from the name due to now being so diverse) is a company that provides mechanical and structural engineering, construction, fabrication, installation and maintenance services for small and large private clients, Local, State and Federal Government Departments.
