In the early years Danny ‘Diesel’ Richards’ first occupation after leaving school was as an apprentice motor mechanic but the lure of the forest was too strong and the day his apprenticeship finished Danny left to pursue his real passion in the Logging Industry.
Diesel says “My father was a logger and I spent most of my early life in the bush with him. I knew this was where I was always going to end up. When I was 22 I started working for a contractor full time. Then in 1980, 2 years later I bought a job off an old Logging Contractor named Alan “Spud” Healey who wanted to get out of the game and from there I just progressed along.”
Richards Harvesting & Haulage was established with just one job and just two employees (including Danny) working for Heyfield Sawmillers Logging Company in the Licola area.
Our Quad Axle Float and Dolly is able to cart machinery up to 77.5 tonnes, to a size of 3.5m wide and 4.9m high. The hourly hire charge includes all permits and is undertaken by a fully accredited and experienced driver.
For floatage enquiries, please call our haulage manager, Garry, on 0458 482 250.
We’ve since grown to a team of over 60 employees, with 6 harvesting crews and 20 company trucks, working throughout Victoria and New South Wales for HVP Gippsland and Western Region, VicForests, Australian Paper and Forestry Corporation NSW.
