Southern Cross Bricklaying began in Toowoomba in 1996 as a partnership between four bricklayers. Over the next five years some partners left in order to pursue other careers. By 2002, we had become fully established, with Ricky Brunner as the sole proprietor. We've now been operating for 24 years and offer experience in both domestic and commercial bricklaying, block laying and repairs.

As one of the largest bricklaying companies in Toowoomba and the Darling Downs, employing over 35 staff, you can be sure that when you work with Southern Cross Bricklaying, you will receive prompt, quality work from the start of your bricklaying project until its completion.

We offer a unique system for most brickwork and mortar types that have been discontinued or are no longer manufactured , If you require an extension on your house or you have had an impact damage a wall or you are just extending your brick fence then at Southern Cross Bricklaying we will be able to source a brick as close as possible with colour and texture and then apply the Ecotone 25 Year colour fasten guarantee stain technology with a fungi, water and UV resistor to achieve a look as close as possible to the original brickwork. Domestic Housing

The housing industry is bouncing back after the coronavirus pandemic and we have a whole host of new houses, duplexes and units coming through. We are working closely with many local builders including Ardenvale Homes, Deadline Projects, Downs Designer Homes, Geoff Gibson Homes, GJ Gardener Toowoomba and Dalby, Lavish Constructions, Malpress Homes, Paragon Homes and Vision Building.

Some we have been working with for years and some we are helping out for the first time as the abundance of people looking to build their dream home has risen sharply with the new grants from the government.

After ever house we finish building we get a few of the boys to grab the cleaning gear, chemicals and pressure washing machines to give them a clean to be ready to move right in to.

As iconic as Toowoomba gets, Rowes has been operating and providing great furniture and bedding to the region since 1892 and is now undergoing a transformation on the exterior once again.

We are working with Northbuild to bring new life into the rugged exterior of this amazing building while adding in some new features. Nearing the end of our involvement and we couldn't be prouder of the work we've done.

The Foundry

Heritage listed building the Toowoomba Foundry is also getting a makeover and we're glad to be able to help Newlands Commercial with this job. Utilizing a mixture of coloured and grey blocks really shows the difference of features block laying can offer. Not to mention how attention grabbing "stack bond" blocks can be!

We have had quite a few infills to do at this job, filling in old doors and windows with bricks to change the dynamics of the rooms. I can't wait to see the finished building and reflect on where it all started.
