High Quality Sand Resource
The South Ballina Sand Quarry (SBSQ) has been operating in the current location since September 2008.
The sand resource available is of extremely high quality. No other sand resource is available in the area of this quality.
The sand is used for the manufacture of adhesives, grout, levellers and industrial paint. The SBSQ sand in its natural state is 600 microns. The coarser material is also used in cement mixes.

Environmental Protection Licence
The Environment Protection Authority (EPA) issues environment protection licences (EPL) to the owners or operators of various industrial premises under the Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1997 (POEO Act). Licence conditions relate to pollution prevention and monitoring, and cleaner production through recycling and reuse and the implementation of best practice.
