Max and Lynn Wishart are the owners of M & LJ Wishart Contractors Pty Ltd.

THE HISTORY

The business evolved after Max started driving interstate for his father Doug, with general freight and subcontracting for other large freight companies. After the sale of Doug's truck Max then drove for Moore Bros, a local freight company.

Max's passion for the Transport Industry saw him purchase his first truck, an Acco 30/70, tipper, truck/railer. Max seeing a real need for a bulk freight carrier in the region, slowly built on his fleet as the demand from both dry land farming and Viticulture became inevitable. From small beginnings as an owner operator, this was the commencement of M & LJ Wishart Contractors Pty Ltd.

TODAY

Today the fleet comprises 13 truck/trailer combinations, , one 19 metre B double, a 25m B Double and a road train specialising in bulk cartage of grain, grapes, fertiliser, gypsum and manures throughout the state of South Australia and Interstate. The business is large enough to handle customer's requirements yet small enough to understand and know their customer's needs.

The business partners with an adjoining fully equipped, modern, workshop (Max's Mechanical Workshop & Repairs) that employs a full team of qualified mechanics, tasked with maintaining the fleet in top condition and ensuring downtime for repairs is kept to a minimum. The 8 bay maintenance workshop includes a B-Double sized pit.

Satellite tracking in vehicles enhances our efficiency and enables us to maintain truck positions and performance. As a NHVR accredited company in both Maintenance and Mass Management Wishart's have been able to provide staff and drivers with training in Vehicle Maintenance, assuring the fleet is able to supply a reliable and efficient service. Wishart's fleet is consistently being upgraded and improved with the latest in design and manufacture being incorporated to ensure clients enjoy good out turns of their product.

Mass Management enables freight maximum weights at competitive rates. Time and resources are continually being spent on Driver Training, Driver Health and Business Management to better serve the clients as well as other road users.

GRAIN

Grain cartage is a major part of the business. Wishart's have previously worked in close conjunction with Viterra's "On Farm Pick Up", supplying farmers with prompt service in the Loxton and outlying Mallee districts including Pinnaroo and the Millewa areas/districts. While this service with Viterra Ltd has ceased, Wishart Contractors are happy to accommodate the farmers need to transport their grain off farm to their chosen destination, whether it be the Silo system, mills/stockfeed manufacturers or private enterprise at competitive rates.

Wishart Contractors transported in excess of 150,000 tonne of grain in a six week period during the 2010 harvest.

With their own fleet of twelve truck/trailer combinations, , one 19 metre B double, a 25m B Double and during peak harvest times using up to twenty reliable sub-contractors, they supply an efficient service to farmers, ensuring delivery of their grain, farm to silo/flour mills/stock feed manufacturers.

In consultation with grain buyers they are able to inform growers of grain prices and opportunities to sell grain at the best prices.

GRAPE CARTAGE

While the bulk of grape deliveries are within the Riverland they also freight grapes to all other wineries anywhere in South Australia, Victoria & New South Wales.

Grape marc, a byproduct of grapes, used as a soil conditioner, garden mulch or stock feed supplement can be purchased from Wisharts and delivered to properties.

FERTILIZER AND MANURE

Wishart Contractors deliver fertilisers from all major suppliers including Incitec Pivot, Impact Fertiliser, Direct Farm Input, Koch, Jeffries and Neutrog direct to properties and depots. Manures and various composts are other products that can be sourced and delivered to clients.
